Edumitra was founded by an experienced software professional with 16 years in the IT industry, including Tata Unisys, HCL Technologies, and IBM, who later became a school director. This unique combination of enterprise software expertise and hands-on school management experience shaped every feature of the platform.

A young software engineer stepped into the IT industry with a passion for solving complex problems. Over the next sixteen years, he worked with Tata Unisys, HCL Technologies, and IBM, lately serving as an Advisory Manager at IBM.
To support family responsibilities while caring for his father, he left the corporate world and founded Benevolent Global Public School in Saharsa, Bihar. Running a school every day revealed that managing a school efficiently is just as challenging as educating students.
Unable to find software that truly met the school's needs, he decided to build one himself. Within just a few weeks, a powerful C++ based School Management System was developed exclusively for the school's internal operations — Admissions, Fees, Attendance, Examinations, Certificates, and Progress Reports.
As the school grew, teachers needed access from different rooms. The existing application was transformed into a web-enabled solution using a local Apache-based web server. Teachers could now access the ERP through the school's LAN and Wi-Fi network.
A director from another reputed school visited the campus. After seeing Edumitra in action, he asked: "Can you install this software in my school?" That single request changed everything. Edumitra was no longer just a tool for one school — it became a solution for many.
Benevolent Software Technologies Private Limited was established and Edumitra was launched commercially. The original file-based system was migrated to Microsoft Access as back end. Every new customer came through recommendations — no advertisements, no marketing campaigns. Only satisfied schools sharing their experiences.
COVID-19 struck. Schools closed. Operations stopped. Many institutions struggled financially. But every challenge brings an opportunity. During this period, reliable 4G internet became widely available — even in rural areas. This changed everything.
Edumitra was completely redesigned and migrated to secure cloud-based VPS infrastructure. Schools no longer needed local servers. Teachers, parents, students, and administrators could now access the platform from anywhere. The transformation from a local ERP to a modern cloud platform had begun.
Edumitra became a Trademark. Every feature introduced over the years has been inspired by real classroom experiences. Today, the platform offers AI-powered Learning Assistant, AI-assisted Powerful Analytics, Enterprise-grade Security, Parent Mobile App, Teacher Portal, and many more modules — all tested in a real school before reaching other schools.
